Last year, Liberty Mutual launched the Responsibility Index Tracking Study, a nationwide index designed to track how people across the country define responsibility.
Responsibility has always been a core value for Liberty Mutual; in fact, that’s why The Responsibility Project was started in 2008 – to provide a place to reflect on and discuss what it means to do the right thing in contemporary society. Building on this, Liberty Mutual wanted to understand how people’s attitudes toward responsibility might change over time – as well as why.
The index began with research partner Harris Interactive, which Liberty Mutual commissioned to conduct an online study of 1770 participants nationwide focusing on four main issues: general attitudes toward responsibility; youth and responsibility; parenting and responsibility; and New Year’s resolutions and responsibility.
We introduced the study by revealing key findings about people’s attitudes toward New Year’s resolutions, and how those are connected to their feelings about personal responsibility. And now that the index has been launched, look for updates on people’s attitudes toward responsibility and how these may change over time.
 Methodology: This survey was conducted online within the United States by Harris Interactive on behalf of Liberty Mutual between September 24 – October 2, 2012 among 1,770 U.S. residents aged 18-64. No estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated; a full methodology is available.
